electronic dog training collars are the innovative means of saying goodbye to the hussles involved in training your pets. Pet owners have found out that these collars saves them both time and money and can even allow them to train their own pets at home, instead of taking them to a training class or hiring a dog trainer.
Kinds
Depending on how they correct dogs, electric dog training collars are classified in three different types. These are electric collars, sonic collars, and citronella spray collars.
Electronic Dog Training Collars
These collars work by delivering a mild static charge to the dog whenever it barks, confusing it momentarily and training it not to bark. There are a few methods to this as some products require the owner to make the correction with the push of a button.
The main advantage of the electronic collar is that it teaches a dog that barking is not allowed in certain situations, such as late at night or when visitors arrive. The collar is also very easy to use. The challenge that is associated with this type of collar however, is the ambiguity regarding the usage of static electric shock to train dogs.
Sound Collars
The other type of electronic training collars involve the use of sound. These sonic collars emit a sound that only dogs can hear and which prevents them from keep barking. These collars are usually preferred by those who think that the ones that deliver static shocks are unethical and cruel.
Spray Collars
The third type of electronic dog training collar is the spray collar. You’ll find that these collars contain a canister which spouts out the citronella spray upon sensing the unwanted behavior of the dog. This collar is by far the most accepted one by people who think the other two are somewhat cruel, yet it requires some extra work, such as constantly refilling the canisters and taking them off at night and at times when the dog is playing and should be allowed to bark at ease.
