My Blogrolls Are Missing!

All the links on the blogroll are suddenly missing. I tried to re-enter the links but they won’t show up in the dashboard and the database says that there’s nothing in the links table. Does anyone have any suggestions on what happened? I tried to look for the solution with wordpress.org but it seems that the most similar problem was only links were not displayed instead of they’re gone from the database.
Why do I put this in the “Quick Tips” category? Because I’ll be posting the solution here also

PHP Speedy For WordPress’ Caching Plugins Alternative

Caching plugins have been doing a great job in speeding up Wordpress blogs. I used WP-Cache earlier and found it really helped my blog’s load speed. However, I often needed to put them off for a while everytime I was going to make changes to my blog’s structure or layout. Since I still make small modifications to my blog’s appearance and switching the plugin on and off sounds like an extra work for me, I decided to delete them form my plugins list. Another reason is there are other plugins which utilize the latest data in order to be working properly. Such as the popularity contest, and post ratings plugin.
Until, there’s an alternative that serves the same function as caching plugins do. PHP Speedy plugin works by mashing up together all the appropriate files (like CSS and javascript files) and compressed them. This results in a significant difference in the page’s load time. See the example of the test result in the PHP Speedy plugin page. While you’re there, you can download the plugin and install it on your own blog. Then you can run tests using the following tool:
- OctaGate Site Timer
- Yahoo YSlow tool for Firefox - this one requires some plugins to be installed on FireFox

The Ultimate Plugins Smart Update Pinger allows you to exmine the logs of the last pings so you can determine whether the services listed in your blog’s admin panel are still functioning. Save your time in checking which service works and if you never done this before, this is a handy tool to start with.
