Google has just released another fun yet useful tool, Google Matador Moderator. Google Moderator was internally used to allow Google insiders ask any questions and others vote up the questions they would like answered. Here’s how Google Moderator looks like
click to magnify
On the left pane, you can see the list of the topics which in this case, the names of world leaders. Visitors then ask questions and they can also vote for another questions they would like to be answered. The questions with the most vote end up on top of the list on the right pane.
That’s it? Of course not! What good is a question without anybody answering them
? As a series administrator, you can provide answers and manage questions. You can also add topics to expand your… well, topic.
Here’s how Google Moderator works for Matt Cutts
My team uses it often at Google, e.g. it’s great for prioritizing which questions are most important.
Now what does it have to do with blogging tips? Good question! Move it to the top
!
We may have been reading the same blogging questions over and over and over again and that’s why Google Moderator can be a brilliant solution. The voting system allowed by Google Moderator can put questions (heard too often in the blogosphere) at the bottom of the list and move “bright” questions to the top. While answers will still be given to questions in the lower rank, bloggers who are interested in knowing deeper about blogging can directly skim the top lists and find new ideas.
The system works perfectly for both start up bloggers and A-lists. Blogger noobs may not understand yet about advanced blogging tips provided at the top of the list, but can still getting suitable information to their blogging experience through the questions at the bottom of the list.
Similar things go for probloggers since the blogosphere keeps expanding and there are always new discoveries, questions and answers on the top index will provide something fresh for their brain.
There’s also a big chance that you will encounter a simple but useful question you never thought of being featured. That’s why whether you consider yourself a problogger or a bloggernoob, you’re always welcome to visit the series of “Blogging Questions You Don’t Know You Have“. Add your questions! As new contributrs will be added continuously, you’ll never know who’s going to answer your question
PS: Google Moderator was internally called Dory (a fish who asked questions in “Finding Nemo”)
Overcoming Feedburner’s Ping Service Limitation

By default, Feedburner limits ping services to 11 maximum. They are Technorati, My Yahoo, Bloglines, Newsgator, Google’s Ping Service, Ping-o-matic and 14 more options. What if you want to use them all instead of just the 11 services allowed?
I recently realized this when I made a separate feed subscription for each category in HomeBiz Recource. For each category, you can have each 11 ping services. So let’s say you have 2 categories with their own feeds and 1 main feed for the main blog, you can have more ping services!
Here’s some example:
http://www.homebiz.bukiki.com/feed —>11 services, 6 default + 5 optionals (service A, B, C, D, E)
http://www.homebiz.bukiki.com/category/blogging/feed —>11 services, 6 default + 5 optionals (service F, G, H, I, J)
http://www.homebiz.bukiki.com/category/quicktips/feed —>11 services, 6 default + 5 optionals (service K, B, H, D, A)
So if you post an article in the blogging category, Feedburner will ping to the 6 default services plus A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J. Am I right?

Feed Error! Source Feed is Too Large…
July 2, 2008 by Louis Liem
…maximum size is 512K. This is the error I was getting when I noticed that my feed wasn’t updated with my latest post. At first, I thought that it was due to the blog security precautions I implemented earlier. But when I was done rolling back all the changes, the feed error still occured. Actually, the error itself was pretty self explanatory. But the first thing came up in my mind was the changes I committed the day before. Second was, I didn’t know what to do to troubleshoot the issue.
Now, after figuring out that undoing all the changes didn’t work, I started to look for help at the FeedBurner Help Group. I learned that there are two ways to reduce your feed’s size.
- Through your feedburner account
- From your dashboard options
Through your feedburner account
You can add a variable after your original feed address. Here’s from the group directly:
- Sign in to your FeedBurner account.
- Click the title of your FeedBurner feed on the My Feeds page.
- On the feed management page that appears, click the Edit Feed Details… link just below your feed’s title.
- In the Original Feed Address field, change the address listed there from an example like the following:
Code:
http://myblogname.blogspot.com/atom.xml
ORhttp://myblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/defaultto the following format:
Code:
http://myblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?max-results=3(Note that max-results sets the number of posts you want to have appear in your FeedBurner feed. Any integer value between 1 and 500 is permitted.)
- Click Save Feed Details. Your changes are immediately applied and FeedBurner re-burns the newly shortened (or lengthened) feed.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me. But try it, maybe it works for you.
The other way to the feed troubleshooting is by reducing the number of items displayed under the “Publicize” tab, in the “BuzzBoost” section on the left. If it fails, change from displaying full feed to just summary feed.
From your dashboard options
If you prefer to stay with full feed to give the most to your readers (or if the above doesn’t work either), go to your WordPress dashboard, head to “Settings”/”Options” | Reading. Look for the setting labeled “Syndication feeds show the most recent” and reduce the number. Mine was 50 and currently I set it to 25…Thank God IT WORKS!
How feeds do you display? Have you got any feed problems? Hoh did you solve the problem?
