Snagsta – Makes Google AltaVista?

How many of the web surfers use Google’s search operators to help them filter their search results? How many of those who use them, do it effectively? Not many I guess, and that means there are still lots of internet users wasting their valuable time searching the search result :) .

I thought about this when I got a post in my mailbox about a new social recommendation site, Snagsta.

What is it again, you say? OK, so how is Snagsta going make you snagsta instead of google? Here’s one example from their pre-alpha site.

Search for hotels in London on Google, and you’ll be flooded with 45 million results! What Snagsta do is, they will ignore people’s opinion which you have nothing in common with. They will show you hotels your firends and people in the same interest loved. And if they (the people with the same interest as you) like it, then most probably you too! And this goes for all topics of interests. You don’t have to search for “google search operator” before you google anything to get specific results :) , you only need to share your list of favourite things and cut down more than half search effort.

That’s how Snagsta works. Users will get easy access to related information powered by those who have similar interests. The out of the ordinary concept is due to launch early 2008. Check out also their un-ordinary, funny pre-alpha trousers site :D !
