Slyvisions.com – The Internet Through an Enterpreneur’s Eyes
October 13, 2008, filed under The Blogosphere
The first time you arrive at Slyvisions.com, you’ll soon like both its layout and design which gently offer its content. Slyvisions.com – “The Internet Through an Enterpreneur’s Eyes” – is maintained by Sly Blanco from the Phillipines intended to share tips and tricks on just about anything in his knowledge. Although, you can expect to find a lot of make money online, blogging and internet marketing tips dominating the content. Therefore, IMO Sly needs to tune up his “About” page to reflect the Slyvision.com’s most recent content.
Next, we’re going to see how Slyvision.com present every tips they got to their readers.
Above the sidebar, you can find some of the general and essential pages every blog need to have. They lead to the archives, advertise, about and contact page. Some extras presented here are the tools page which will allow you to do some site analysis, a list of money makers recommended by Sly and a subscription to the newsletter.
Apart from how much will those lists and tools be useful for Slyvisions.com’s readers, I’d suggest to put the page links in a more prominent spot. The tiny font used and their “cornered” position make them easily skipped when readers skimming the blog.
Next we’re down to the header. The banner and the tagline stands clear and I agree that they tell the visitors where they are. I’d like to remind myself the following suggestion, that improvements can still be done with the tagline to give a picture of what the readers will get when they keep digging for information in Slyvisions.com. Make the readers both curious and also interested to go deeper withing the blog.
Beside the blog’s name and its tagline lies a search box. I thought that if I’m a new visitor to Slyvisions.com and have no idea of what I’m going to find, then there’s only a small chance for me to use the searchbox. Mostly, I will read some articles to get the picture of what this blog is all about and then I’ll know what I might find within the archives and I would want to type the keyword without having to scroll upward or too far. On the other hand, if I’m a regular user, having to be able to find a searchbox in more than one location will surely ease my navigation. Therefore I’d like to suggest adding at least one more search box on the sidebar or maybe the footer. With the same color as the header’s background, it’s as hidden as the page links to be seen.
Following next is the composition of categories in where you usually the list of pages. Good idea, I think. Since they’ll get the attention from the readers earlier. In the end of the menu, there’s a link to subscribe to RSS feeds which you can also find in the next 100 pixels below. Maybe Sly wants to move the one on the top and put it in the middle of the sidebar ot the footer to spread access to the subscription.
The sidebar itself lists quite informative and useful items for readers and advertisers. Featuring good articles that could have been missed by the readers and some interactivity with the polls. If you’re wondering about some of the content in Slyvisions.com, take a look at the articles I found:
