Confused about some features and widgets on this blogs? I did a research through many blogs and find things I consider helpful for visitors so I try to implent them on my blog. I still need your feedback on these features, to see if I already provide the best and comfortable view and navigation for my readers. Please do let me know if there’s something to be done. Comments are also welcome!
Snap Shots
I installed a nice little tool on this site called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site. Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you “look ahead,” before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.

Breadcrumb
One of the navigation features I keep in this new theme is “breadcrumb”. You can find it after the menu section and before the list of articles I mentioned above (begins with “you’re here”). Hansel and Gretel used breadcrumbs to find their way home (although they didn’t work, the birds ate them). The same purpose is expcted, that is to inform visitors which category or time period the articles they’re viewing falls to.
Threaded Comment and Comment Quoter
Sometimes you want to reply to a comment which is way up. With a threaded comment plugin for Wordpress you can put your reply directly under the comment you wish to reply even if there are 50 comments already. Unfortunately, continuous reply will make the form less comfortable to read. That’s why I limit the number of nested replies can be made.
But no worry! I’ve found a solution for this. This plugin allows you to quote other’s comments. Just like in forums! So if there’s no more nested replies available, you can quote the comments. This way, you can reply to earlier comments without confusing others about who you are replying to. Just quote’em!
Another thing maybe you haven’t noticed yet is, there’s no need to write your email when commenting anymore. Actually, I’ve started this since the old theme, but in case you haven’t noticed..
Update (February 2nd 2008): This blog supports “do-follow” on comment authors! Now you can have some link juice flow to anywhere you link from your URL!
Entrecard
You can see an Entrecard in the mid-section, below the site statistic and a “Visit also” sub-header. What is it? For short, it’s a business card. People usually exchange business cards when they see each other to promote their brand, business, network, etc. Entrecard works the same way. It uses a 125×125 image to represent you and your blog. You can display your Entrecard on other member’s blog who is also an Entrecard member and other bloggers can also display their Entrecard on my blog. This can help bloggers to push an amount of traffic to their blog.
John Chow is an Entrecard member. Try to display your Entrecard on his blog and see traffic flowing
These are more questions from Entrecard’s website:
- I can display my Entrecard on someone else’s widget?
- Yes, you can display your Entrecard on any widget on any site in our network, permitting:
- You have enough Entrecard Credits to purchase the space on the widget of your choice
- Your Entrecard gets approved by the blogs owner.
- What are Entrecard Credits and how do I get them?
- Entrecard credits are used to purchase placement for your card on other blogs via the widget. You earn a credit every time you drop your card in someone else’s widget, every time someone leaves you a card, and every time someone buys placement for their card on your blog.
- How many credits does it cost to place my card on someone else’s widget?
- The going rate is equal to twice the average number of cards received through the widget daily over the last five days. So, if a blog receives 100 cards on average per day, it costs 200 credits to advertise on their blog. This helps ensure that the economy balances. It also means that for every two credits you spend, a unique user will see your ad and be clicking in the vicinity.
Now, if you want to know more, head to their FAQ or why not trying them instead?
