Pay Per Play - An Advertising Breakthrough?
Dec 2007 | Category: Make Money Blogging, News and RumorsWhat is it?

How would you like a Paid Per Impression (PPM) advertising that only consume a single pixel on your page? Introducing Pay Per Play (PPP) advertising by NetAudioAds. If you’re familiar with PPM ads, then PPP is not much difference. You still get paid by impressions but it’s an audio impression now! So PPP ads don’t eat up space on your page’s real estate and you still get paid for delivering them to your visitors. Before any of you being skeptical about audio ads, PPP by NetAudioAds will only be heard for 5 seconds. It maybe faster than your whole page load. Better, you determine which page you prefer the ads to be played on. That’s it! Only 5 seconds and you earn!
If you feel watching a video than reading the whole post, you can view it here.
OK, let’s continue. But how if people turn down their speakers volume thus rendering ads useless and makes advertisers pay for nothing? That could happen, but fortunately NetAudioAds has been working on this since 5 years ago and they discover that 80% computer speakers are on with audible volume all time.Besides, would we mute the speaker or turning it down just to avoid a 5 seconds commercial and then bringing it up again when we’re going to watch movies or videos? I believe we are too lazy to do that
.
Others think that audio advertising can distract visitors away. They’re right…only if the audio ads were placed on the wrong pages like sale processes, checkout pages or specific product offers. Placing the ads on a relevant page will precisely increase the multimedia experience on the page.As mentioned above, webmasters are able to choose certain pages on their site to present 5 seconds audio ads and they will also be played only once per page to avoid visitors from being overwhelmed by. Another plus, the ads use a similar technology to Adsense in crawling web pages to make sure the audio ads are related to the certain topic of the page, so visitors won’t listen to something they’re not looking for.”People hate pop-ups and auto played audio ads are just the same!” Personally, I don’t think so. People need to click the “x” to close the pop-up window. It’ll remain there if users don’t get rid of it. NetAudioAds’ PPP only lasts for 5 seconds and there’s no action required to “terminate” it. So, it’s not that annoying.
To conclude, these are your advantages monetizing your site with PPP:
- You don’t give out anything to serve ads and get paid. Audio ads only eat up 1 pixel and visitors are not bugged with continuous and irrelevantads. You get to pick a page on your site the audio ads will be presented on and the ads itself will be relevant to the page’s topic. Letalone it’s only a 5 seconds ad.
- You still get paid even if the visitor doesn’t take action. Unlike PPC ads where you need users to click on the ads for you to earn.
How’re the future chances?
Before the internet, the television network is the strongest and the most effective media to advertise. Nowadays, more people are logging in to the internet than they are to TVs. The magic box is losing its effectiveness. More people also utilizing DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) and fast-forwarding through commercials making them unseen. For that reason, big time advertisers and brands are looking to the web to reclaim their market and Pay Per Play offers a new way of audio advertising differs from another long sales pitch and untargeted audio ads.
Since the internet is still on its early stage of growth, its prospect will be wonderful, backed up by the fact that 907 million people go online every day and 97% of them have audio systems. It’ll be bigger than the television! Before widely released, Net Audio Ads’ PPP has been running for 2,5 years. In that timeframe, it has 66,000 advertisers, 550,000 websites serving PPP ads. That means approximately 40 million impressions monthly.
How can I get in? What’s the catch?
There’s no catch! You can join here and listen to sample audio clips from companies such as Taco Bell, Harley Davidson, Burger King, etc. After finishing the registration, you will need to copy a simple code on your web page. You can choose which page to serve the audio ads. The crawler will determine which ads will be played on your page and when people visit your page, a five seconds audio ad will play….and you get paid.

How do I get paid?
They can do it either via PayPal, direct deposit into your account (for US residents), or check.
And then I can start earning immediately?
Not yet, PPP will officially launch on February 1st, 2008, when advertisers begin to bid for ads placements and choose the types of sites they want their ad to be played on. So the more websites get into the network before February 1st, the higher the opening bids will be, that means higher revenue for webmasters. First check will be sent in March and payments will continue monthly thereafter.
February 2008? I’ll decide later, unless there’s a good reason to do it now..
Joining in this early stage enables us to refer this program to others. Members who register after a certain number of members is reached, will only earn through ads commission only. They won’t be able to earn from referrals. So you can join anytime, but the sooner you sign-up, the bigger is your income opportunity.
Anything else?
Lots a. There is a referral program that grants you a five percent of all revenues earned by the first two levels of your referrals, lifetime. So how much can I earn from PPP totally? Here are the details
- 25% of what the advertiser spends on PPP ads you serve on your own website(s).
- 5% of what the advertiser spends on PPP ads played on the website(s) of those you refer.
- 5% of what the advertiser spends on PPP ads played on the website(s) that your direct referrals bring on board.
So if you present PPP ads on your website, and you have 2 referral levels, you are given 35% of the revenue. This means they keep the 65%. It makes sense since it makes the company sustainable to keep them running instead of promising a high commission and suffering insufficient operational funds in the end.
That’s it?
No, there’s still one more. You also have a choice to present 30 seconds audio ads and of course these ads will earn you more than the 5 seconds do. However, don’t let high comissions blind you. Choose the serving pages wisely like exit pages or specific pages dedicated for ads to put your audio ads in instead of killing your own site by placing it everywhere.
Second opinions
As usual, every new invention surfaces, there are always 2 opposing sides. There are also those who have a different point of view. It is your right to know what others have in mind. You can read them here, here and there. How about the author himself? Since this is a pre-launch and I’m opened to new ideas, so I wouldn’t overboast but I decided to sign up and waiting while spreading the news to let others know.

It may be only 5 seconds, but it still sounds very annoying to me! We’ll have to see how it takes off. Nice to find another “remarkable” blog with a lot of useful posts. Will bookmark and return.
David.
Thanks for your opinion, David. It’s nice to have you here!
Thanks for the review. I hadn’t heard about this yet, but I think I’d be on board. 5 Seconds is not a big deal and the fact that it doesn’t take up any page
real estate is a great bonus.
I’m definitely going over and signing up.
