Lack of Home Buyers Puts Homes on Trump’s Scottish Golf Development On Ice

Deep worries have been put forward about the future make-up of Donald Trump’s 1 billion Golf Resort in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The approved plan includes 2 eighteen Hole Golf Clubs, a four hundred and fifty Bedroom Hotel, 950 Holiday Homes and 500 Private properties.

The worries were put forward after the Managing Director of Trump International, Mr George Sorial was recently required to deny that the company were holding up the building of the 500 private properties which were a crucial part of the planning document.

It’s been said that the company have taken a decision to hold back the building of the properties due to the depressed state of the House Sales UK Market which is causing a lack of potential Home Buyers.

Detractors of the scheme claim that the company is manipulating the plan to maximise its own profit to the detriment of the Scottish Economy. There was bitter opposition to this plan during its 2 year planning process, and it was eventually only given the green light when the Scottish Government overturned the decision by Aberdeenshire County Council to throw out the plan.

Mr Sorial has intimated that the state of the House Sales UK Market, the lack or otherwise of Home Buyers, and present levels of property prices have nothing to do with the timing of the building and eventual sale of the houses in the plan. He went on to claim that it was always planned that the housing building would start towards the end of the overall project, after the Golf Course and Hotel had been completed and were fully operational.

Obviously, one can see the sense of creating all the infrastructure and attractions before beginning to construct and market the private properties. If I lived in the area around this plan, I certainly wouldn’t want to Sell My House until all the upheaval of construction is over, and the benefit of the amenities and destinations has had a chance to take its effect on my home value.

Mr Sorial further commented “The way we envisage it is that the golf course is full speed ahead. With the golf comes a club house and maintenance facilities, then the hotel. We can’t help but acknowledge the slowdown in the market. We have to sell them, so we’re not going to build anything until it feels right”. He further predicted that once the market begins to pick up, there’d be a surge in demand for these houses, He also stated that the local plan for housing in the area demanded thousands of properties annually, and that either way, the Trump Plan was just a “drop in the bucket” when compared to the published local needs.
