After many traumatic months, House Sales UK finally look like turning the corner. Everyone sensible believes that this could be a vital turning point in our current economic crisis. Imagine how annoying it is for anybody trying to “Sell my House” to read today’s reports that Margaret Beckett, the Housing Minister has shocked the whole House Sales UK market with her strengthening of the rules concerning the much criticised House Information Packs, or HIPs as they are commonly called.
Until now, a House Information pack had to be provided by the vendor within 28 days of putting the house up for sale. However, the minister announced today, that from now on, all HIPs must be finished and available before I can even start to sell my house. Additionally the minister also announced that from now on the HIPs are going to be more complicated, with an additional 6 Page Questionnaire being added to the existing set of necessary documents.
Experts have criticised the announcement as showing a complete lack of understanding of the already difficult market. The timing of the move was mainly criticised, coming just when the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors announced the first encouraging news about House Sales UK in two years. The move is criticised as working completely against other quite expensive government schemes which have been revealed in the past weeks in order to stop House Sales UK going into a steep and self perpetuating nose dive.
It’s now feared that a lot of people like me, who are looking to “Sell House Fast” will have one more expensive and time consuming problem put in their way, and it’s even feared that this will put a lot of families off from even trying. One particular group who may be very badly affected are those responsible young couples who struggled to get themselves on the housing ladder by purchasing a miniscule apartment. After a few years of sacrifice and struggle, these couples would be now prepared to trade up to Buy Houses in order to begin a family. These are the very people we should be encouraging, and they’re the ones who are going to be most affected by this new piece of bureaucracy.
In the Long Term, it’s crucial for all of us that there is a healthy balance in the market at every Home Price Point, and in every Home Owner Age Range.
