It sometimes seems that it is more challenging than ever to find a good, high-quality date, even though we all have more “friends” and are more connected than ever in today’s hyper-wired universe.
So what’s up with that? Why, with so many friends and so many tools, are more and more of us spending so many lonely nights at home alone?
Well, it all goes back to Dating 101, or as I prefer to call it, How to get a date the old school way.
In reality, you are much, much, much, much – have I made my point yet – more likely to find a date – and maybe even true love – if you take a bit of time to practice a few old school rules.
Old school rule number one (Hint: there is only one old school rule) is very simple – USE YOUR FRIENDS!
Some people will try to tell you that it is better to meet new people at work (dangerous), at church (boring) at the local bar (stupid) or even at the supermarket (whatever).
These people obviously don’t have a clue.
What they need to tell you is that you’ll be much more likely to find Mr. or Mrs. Right if you already have a social circle and use those existing friends to introduce you to some of their friends. The first added bonus to this being that you can also get a recommendation and some on the potential new learned to make it clear, it is more important to make some real friends first, and then worry about finding somebody or something more serious later on.
Fortunately, it is also easier than ever to find new friends these days thanks to all the amazing tools available on the Internet.
Just stay away from traditional Internet dating sites and use a friend finder site instead. I recommend http://www.matchalot.com, since many people on this user-friendly site are hunting for friends who share similar interests, and not just scouting out another boyfriend or girlfriend. A warning that this site is still new, and so membership is still growing. But if you get in early and are patient, somebody from your neighborhood is bound to find you eventually.
Remember, dating is and always has been a game of patience. You need to use the tools on the Internet first to make some real world friends, then use those friends to take the next step into something more serious.
Following the above technique is much more likely to result in a new relationship, and someday you to will look back and realize that you too have mastered the art of How to get a date 101.
