The day has finally arrived! On February 1 2008 NetAudioAds begins pushing live audio ads to their network. If you have registered your website/blog to broadcast their ads, then they probably start playing audio ads now. However, some of you may find nothing was played. This is because they are launching the ads slowly, methodically to ensure system’s integrity as things ramp up. I found this explanation on their blog.

Unlike typical launches where everything opens at once, this launch will be different. Audio ads will NOT begin playing everywhere at the same time. This will be a slow, methodical ramp up until NetAudioAds is playing ads to the complete network.

This will take time… 30 - 60 days to get up to full speed.

With this explanation, it seems that many believe that PPP did not launch on February 1st and will be delayed for 30-60 days. The next post in their blog answers the confusion.

NetAudioAds did launch today and advertiser contracts are beginning to be fulfilled this very second. NetAudioAds is rolling out in stages to ensure system integrity at every stage. Any launch of this magnitude has to be throttled up carefully.

When a new advertising contract is set then NetAudioAds will seek to fulfill the order as quickly as possible without compromising the advertiser in the process. This is a delicate balance between integrity of audio ad plays (for advertisers) and fulfilling available ad slots (for you).

I will state again… NetAudioAds has launched and audio ads are playing right now. Tomorrow more audio ads will play… The next day… even more… Please be patient. We (you) should expect full capacity in 30 - 60 days and this does not mean that ads won’t play on your site within the next few days (or right now)… All it means is that 100% of your ad space may not be fulfilled at all times until NetAudioAds reaches full throttle.

Another misunderstanding is that NetAudioAds no longer accepts affiliate registrations as per February 1 2008. This rumor is also denied by the following post

Another common misunderstanding is that today is the day we would close the affiliate opportunity. This rumor has been perpetuated for some unknown reason. This was never stated. As a core affiliate partner, you will always have the ability to earn by referral. NetAudioAds will not close this program to core partners… ever.

At some point in the future NetAudioAds will no longer bring on new core affiliate partners but the existing partners (you) will always have the ability to earn by referral.

Beside those clarifications, recent PPP blog post also informs that you are enabled to opt out from running certain ads on your website, like your competitor ads. This can be accomplished by specifying the name or competitor’s keywords. On the contrary, you can include keywords of the kinds of ads you do want to be played on your site. This feature is still preliminary and will be kept developing over time.

While my blog hasn’t start playing audio ads, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see how it will perform. Can you already hear the ads playing on your blog? How do you think? Will you keep ‘em or trash ‘em?
